But Trish didn?t say anything for a while. She sat silently beside her husband, weighing the pros and cons. But he did not expect her response. ?No,? she said suddenly and sat up beside him, her eyes red and puffy. ?I don?t want us to see any doctors about this.?
Scott was confused as he stared at his wife with furrowed brows. ?But why? A doctor could help us figure this out.?
An Explanation
Trish shook her head and wiped the moisture from under her eyes. ?Because, Scott, what if it?s bad? What if either of us are unable to have children?? More tears began spilling from her eyes. ?What if I?m the problem, and you resent me for it? Or vice versa?
What if we start blaming each other?? she said. Scott hadn?t thought of that possibility. He stared at his wife with sadness in his eyes as she sobbed before him.
A Promise
That day, Scott held his wife close and promised her that everything would be fine. ?Then we won?t go to a doctor,? He said. ?We will keep trying, and if it?s meant to be, it will be,? He said. Although she was heartbroken, Trish was grateful.
